Twenty years of repairing computers, from desktops that will not post to laptops that have gone slow enough to be unusable. Most of it comes down to a small number of real faults: storage that is failing, memory that is erroring, cooling that has clogged, or a power path that has broken.
The diagnostic on a desktop or laptop is $50 to $70 and is credited in full toward the repair when you approve it. Upgrades are quoted as part plus labour, and a solid-state drive is the single change that turns a slow machine into a usable one. We will also tell you when a machine is not worth putting money into, which is a real answer and not a sales pitch.
Based in Lemon Grove, our core service area runs about twelve miles out — a tight ring on purpose, because it is what lets us hold a same-day window and arrive when we say we will. Larger jobs further out are welcome: call and we will tell you honestly whether the trip makes sense.
Often yes, and it depends on which part has failed. Storage, memory, cooling and power faults are worth fixing on a machine with a good screen and keyboard. A failed board on a cheap laptop usually is not, and we will say that instead of quoting you.
Where the drive is readable, yes. We move the data off before anything else, onto an external drive you provide. A drive that has failed mechanically is a specialist job, and we tell you rather than experimenting with your only copy.
We clean malware and browser hijacks, and check what else arrived with them. We will not pretend a machine that ransomware encrypted is recoverable: that needs your backup, and we say so plainly.
We fit storage, memory and cooling, and we tell you what is compatible with your machine before you buy anything. The diagnostic fee is credited toward the upgrade when you approve it.
